2007 Interoperability Showcase

HIMSS 2007 Interoperability Showcase—The largest multi-vendor prototype ever built!

HIMSS uses the Interoperability Showcase to educate and demonstrate interoperability using the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) process and framework.  Interoperability showcases are a major part of the exhibition floor for the three conferences that HIMSS now sponsors in Asia, Europe and the United States.  The Interoperability Showcases highlight the  (IHE) framework, which improves patient care by harmonizing healthcare information exchange.

IHE engages the efforts of numerous stakeholders, including care providers, medical and IT professionals, professional associations and vendors.  IHE participants promote interoperability by building systems that conform to an industry-wide framework for implementing standards. Almost 200 healthcare vendors worldwide offer ready-to-integrate products that benefit healthcare enterprises of all sizes. CIOs and clinicians appreciate the positive impact IHE has made on radiology, cardiology, laboratory and enterprise infrastructure as well as powerful cross-enterprise healthcare infrastructures.

As the initiative has expanded globally, more than 200 vendors have implemented and tested products based upon the IHE framework.  The Interoperability Showcases provide a venue to learn first hand how healthcare providers can benefit from leveraging this framework when purchasing new applications, devices and systems.
